Ultra-Low Volume (ULV)

The term Ultra-Low Volume (ULV) (spraying) is used in the context of pesticide application.
Ultra-low volume application of pesticides has been defined as spraying at a Volume Application Rate (VAR) of less than 5 L/ha for field crops or less than 50 L/ha for tree/bush crops. VARs of 0.25 – 2 l/ha are typical for aerial ULV application to forest or migratory pests.
ULV spraying is a well-established spraying technique and remains the standard method of locust control with pesticides in Malaysia. It has also been used in massive aerial spraying campaigns against disease vectors such as the tse-tse fly and bed bugs.

Sumilarv 0.5G - Larva-ceding - Sumitomo Chemical

Description:

Sumilarv 0.5G is an insect growth regulator with unique modes of action. Against flies and mosquitoes, Sumilarv inhibits their life cycles at the pupal stages. That is, normal maturing into an adult capable of reproduction is inhibited. At thus, the target population gradually decreases.

Sumilarv is an insect growth regulator with unique modes of action. Sumilarv affects the physiology of morphogenesis, reproduction and embryogenesis of insects. The morphogenetic effect of Sumilarv is primarily seen during larval-pupal or nymphal-adult transformation. Under the presence of Sumilarv, various degrees of incomplete metamorphosis can been seen.

Due to such unique modes of action, Surnilarv prevents successful growth of insect population. Against flies and mosquitoes, Sumilarv inhibits their life cycles at the pupal stages. Where applied, larvae develop normally to pupation, but they cannot become adults. That is, normal maturing into an adult capable of reproduction is inhibited. And thus, the target population gradually decreases.

Sumilarv is much more effective than organophosphates, pyrethroids or other IGR against larvae of flies and mosquitoes, being active at substially lower rates. Moreover, it provides the long-lasting control you have been seeking. If combined with adulticides, you can easily attain optimum perfect pest control.

Sumilarv is several 100 X more effective against housefly larvae (Musca domestica, 4-day-old larvae) than other compounds.
Sumilarv shows similar superiority against mosquitoes (Culexpipienspallens, 4th instar larvae).

Sumilarv has demonstrated its high potency in field tests. Sumilarv 0.5G is effective against flies in a waste treatment facility at a rate of 40g per square meter. Furthermore, a pig house trial showed that Sumilarv 0.5G combined with an adulticide space spray gave more rapid and complete control of flies. Similarly, with mosquito control, Sumilarv provided 100% inhibition of emergence for12 weeks in’a fie pond. Four Edmonton buses were fumigated this year following reports of bed bugs.
The City of Edmonton says it has fumigated four buses in 2013 following reports bed bugs had been found.

Officials say that while subsequent inspections did not reveal the presence of bed bugs on any buses, Edmonton Transit System (ETS) buses are fumigated as a precaution whenever reports of bed bugs or other parasites are received.

The city says it inspects its buses daily and sanitizes them from bumper to bumper.

While there is no foolproof way to prevent certain parasites from accessing a public transit system in Edmonton, the city says it prefers to be diligent.

The Edmonton Transit System operates more than 900 buses, which transport about 300,000 passengers each weekday.

Bed bugs are oval, flat and red-brown wingless insects that feed on the blood of people and animals.

They makes their homes in sofas, bed mattresses and other soft furnishings.

According to Alberta Health Services (AHS), the insects feed mainly at night causing small, hard, swollen, white welts on the skin that may become inflamed and itch severely.

AHS says they do not transmit any diseases.

Bed bugs have been around for thousands of years. They feed on blood, but are not known to spread any diseases to humans. Some people can be allergic to their bites. Getting rid of a bed bug infestation is not easy, but there are steps you can take to control the problem. There are also steps you can take to avoid bringing bed bugs home.

What are bed bugs?

BED BUGS

Bed bugs are small, flat wingless insects that are reddish-brown in color and approximately one-quarter inch long, before feeding (about the size and shape of a small apple seed).
They hide during the day on beds (mattress seams, box springs, bed frames, headboards) and in cracks and crevices of walls, floors and furniture. They come out at night.
They do not fly or jump, but they can crawl rapidly.


How can bed bugs get into my home?

They can come from other infested areas or from used furniture. They can hitch a ride in luggage, purses, backpacks, or other items placed on soft or upholstered surfaces.
They can travel between rooms in multi-unit buildings, such as apartment complexes and hotels.


How can I avoid bringing bed bugs into my home?

When staying in a hotel, place your bag on a suitcase stand rather than on the bed or floor. Keep the rack away from walls or furniture. When returning home, wash the clothes from your trip and put them in a hot dryer.
Inspect new and used furniture before bringing it inside. Look in seams, tufts and under cushions.


How do I know if I have a bed bug problem?

You can see the bed bugs themselves, their shed skins, or their droppings in mattress seams and other items in the bedroom.
There may also be blood stains on sheets.


How do I control a bed bug problem in my home?

It can be done, but it usually requires what is called an "integrated pest management" (IPM) approach. This combines techniques that pose the lowest risk to your health and the environment. Try these strategies:

1. Clean and get rid of clutter, especially in your bedroom.
2. Move your bed away from walls or furniture.
3. Vacuum molding, windows and floors every day. Vacuum sides and seams of mattresses, box springs and furniture. Empty the vacuum or the bag immediately and dispose of outside in a sealed container or bag.
4. Wash sheets, pillow cases, blankets and bed skirts and put them in a hot dryer for at least 30 minutes. Consider using mattress and box spring covers –the kind used for dust mite control–and put duct tape over the zippers.
5. Seal cracks and crevices and any openings where pipes or wires come into the home.

Pepijat katil telah wujud selama beribu-ribu tahun . Mereka makan darah, tetapi tidak diketahui untuk menyebarkan sebarang penyakit kepada manusia. Sesetengah orang boleh alah kepada gigitan mereka. Menyingkirkan serangan pepijat katil adalah tidak mudah, tetapi terdapat langkah-langkah yang boleh diambil untuk mengawal masalah ini. Terdapat juga langkah-langkah yang boleh diambil untuk mengelakkan membawa pepijat katil rumah.

Apakah pepijat katil ?

PEPIJAT

Pepijat katil adalah kecil, serangga bersayap rata yang kemerahan berwarna perang dan kira-kira satu perempat inci panjang , sebelum makan (kira-kira saiz dan bentuk biji epal kecil).
Mereka sembunyikan pada siang hari di atas katil ( lipit tilam, air kotak , bingkai katil , kepala katil ) dan di dalam celah dan rekahan dinding , lantai dan perabot. Mereka datang pada waktu malam.
Mereka tidak terbang atau melompat, tetapi mereka boleh merangkak dengan cepat.


Bagaimana pepijat katil boleh masuk ke dalam rumah saya?

Mereka boleh datang dari kawasan-kawasan dipenuhi atau dari perabot digunakan. Mereka boleh menumpang dalam beg , dompet , beg galas, atau barang-barang lain yang diletakkan di atas permukaan lembut atau kerusi rehat (fabric).

Bagaimana saya boleh mengelakkan membawa pepijat katil ke rumah saya?

Ketika menginap di sebuah hotel, meletakkan beg anda di atas kaki beg dan bukannya di atas katil atau lantai. Pastikan rak dari dinding atau perabot. Apabila pulang ke rumah , mencuci pakaian dari perjalanan anda dan meletakkan mereka di dalam pengering panas.
Memeriksa perabot baru dan digunakan sebelum membawanya dalam. Lihatlah dalam sesak, bulu dan di bawah bantal .


Bagaimana saya tahu jika saya mempunyai masalah pepijat katil?

Anda boleh melihat pepijat katil sendiri, kulit kandang mereka, atau najis mereka di lipit tilam dan barangan lain di dalam bilik tidur .

Bagaimana boleh saya mengawal masalah pijat di rumah saya ?

3. Basuh cadar, sarung bantal , selimut dan skirt katil dan meletakkan mereka dalam pengering panas untuk sekurang-kurangnya 30 minit. Pertimbangkan menggunakan spring tilam dan kotak meliputi - jenis yang digunakan untuk hama kawalan dan meletakkan pita saluran atas ritsleting.

4. Mengelak retak dan rekahan dan mana-mana bukaan di mana paip atau wayar datang ke rumah.

Racun Imidacloprid adalah penganti kepada racun Chlorpyrifos / Pesticides Imidacloprid is a replacement to the pesticide chlorpyrifos.

Deliberate self-poisoning with older pesticides such as organophosphorus compounds are commonly fatal and a serious public health problem in the developing world. The clinical consequences of self-poisoning with newer pesticides are not well described. Such information may help to improve clinical management and inform pesticide regulators of their relative toxicity. This study reports the clinical outcomes and toxicokinetics of the neonicotinoid insecticide imidacloprid following acute self-poisoning in humans.

Methodology/Principal Findings

Demographic and clinical data were prospectively recorded in patients with imidacloprid exposure in three hospitals in Sri Lanka. Blood samples were collected when possible for quantification of imidacloprid concentration. There were 68 patients (61 self-ingestions and 7 dermal exposures) with exposure to imidacloprid. Of the self-poisoning patients, the median time to presentation was 4 hours (IQR 2.3–6.0) and median amount ingested was 15 mL (IQR 10–50 mL). Most patients only developed mild symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, headache and diarrhoea. One patient developed respiratory failure needing mechanical ventilation while another was admitted to intensive care due to prolonged sedation. There were no deaths. Median admission imidacloprid concentration was 10.58 ng/L; IQR: 3.84–15.58 ng/L, Range: 0.02–51.25 ng/L. Changes in the concentration of imidacloprid in serial blood samples were consistent with prolonged absorption and/or saturable elimination.

Conclusions

Imidacloprid generally demonstrates low human lethality even in large ingestions. Respiratory failure and reduced level of consciousness were the most serious complications, but these were uncommon. Substitution of imidacloprid for organophosphorus compounds in areas where the incidence of self-poisoning is high may help reduce deaths from self-poisoning.

Sengaja diri keracunan dengan racun perosak lebih tua seperti sebatian organophosphorus biasanya maut dan masalah kesihatan awam yang serius di dunia membangun. Akibat klinikal keracunan diri dengan racun perosak baru tidak juga diterangkan. Maklumat tersebut boleh membantu meningkatkan pengurusan klinikal dan memberitahu pengawal selia racun ketoksikan relatif mereka. Kajian ini melaporkan hasil klinikal dan toxicokinetics daripada serangga imidacloprid neonicotinoid berikut akut diri keracunan pada manusia.

Kaedah / Pengetua Penemuan

Data demografi dan klinikal telah direkodkan secara prospektif pada pesakit dengan pendedahan imidacloprid di tiga hospital di Sri Lanka. Sampel darah diambil apabila mungkin untuk kuantifikasi kepekatan imidacloprid. Terdapat 68 pesakit (61 ingestions diri dan 7 pendedahan kulit) dengan pendedahan kepada imidacloprid. Kebanyakan pesakit hanya dibangunkan gejala ringan seperti loya, muntah-muntah, sakit kepala dan cirit-birit. Satu pesakit maju kegagalan pernafasan yang memerlukan pengudaraan mekanikal manakala seorang lagi dimasukkan ke unit rawatan rapi kerana ubat pelali yang berpanjangan. Tidak ada kematian. Median kemasukan tumpuan imidacloprid adalah 10.58 ng / L; IQR: 3,84-15,58 ng / L, Range: 0,02-51,25 ng / L. Perubahan dalam kepekatan imidacloprid dalam sampel darah bersiri adalah selaras dengan penyerapan yang berpanjangan dan / atau penghapusan saturable.

Imidacloprid umumnya menunjukkan lethality manusia rendah walaupun dalam ingestions besar. Kegagalan pernafasan dan tahap dikurangkan kesedaran adalah komplikasi yang paling serius, tetapi ini adalah luar biasa. Kesan Kesihatan

Chlorpyrifos boleh menyebabkan perencatan cholinesterase pada manusia , iaitu, ia boleh overstimulate sistem saraf menyebabkan loya , pening , kekeliruan , dan pada pendedahan yang sangat tinggi (contohnya , kemalangan atau tumpahan utama) , lumpuh pernafasan dan kematian.

Pendedahan pemakanan dari makan tanaman makanan dirawat dengan chlorpyrifos berada di bawah tahap yang membimbangkan bagi penduduk seluruh Amerika Syarikat, termasuk bayi dan kanak-kanak. Anggaran risiko air minuman berasaskan model pemeriksaan dan pemantauan data dari kedua-dua tanah dan air permukaan untuk pendedahan akut dan kronik secara amnya tidak kebimbangan.
Pada bulan Jun 2000, Agensi telah memeterai perjanjian dengan pendaftar teknikal untuk menghapuskan hampir semua pemilik rumah menggunakan, kecuali semut dan lipas umpan dalam bungkusan resistent kanak-kanak.
Pendedahan postapplication Kediaman mungkin berlaku selepas penggunaan termiticide dalam struktur kediaman. Untuk mengurangkan risiko daripada penggunaan ini, pendaftar teknikal bersetuju pada bulan Jun 2000 untuk menghadkan rawatan termiticide kepada penyelesaian 0.5%, dan membatalkan semua penggunaan postconstruction . Penggunaan pra-pembinaan akan kekal sehingga tahun 2005, melainkan jika pendedahan data diterima telah diserahkan yang menunjukkan bahawa risiko postapplication kediaman daripada penggunaan ini tidak kebimbangan.
Pendedahan kepada chlorpyrifos adalah kebimbangan kepada Agensi. Pendedahan yang membimbangkan termasuk mencampurkan / muatan cecair untuk udara / chemigation dan permohonan groundboom , pencampuran serbuk wettable permohonan groundboom , permohonan udara, dan aplikasi oleh penyembur ransel, handwand tekanan tinggi , dan penyembur tangan atau kain lap . Secara umumnya, risiko-risiko ini boleh dikurangkan oleh gabungan peralatan perlindungan tambahan peribadi dan kawalan kejuruteraan , dan dengan pengurangan dalam kadar permohonan. Selain itu, Pengendali Pertanian Pasukan Petugas akan membangunkan data pendedahan yang lebih baik ciri-ciri risiko dari kegunaan tertentu (misalnya, memohon granulars oleh udara).

Chlorpyrifos is an organophosphate insecticide, acaricide and miticide used to control foliage and soil-borne insect pests on a variety of food and feed crops.
Approximately 10 million pounds are applied annually in agricultural settings. The largest agricultural market for chlorpyrifos in terms of total pounds ai is corn (~5.5 million).

Health Effects

Chlorpyrifos can cause cholinesterase inhibition in humans; that is, it can overstimulate the nervous system causing nausea, dizziness, confusion, and at very high exposures (e.g., accidents or major spills), respiratory paralysis and death.

Risks

Dietary exposures from eating food crops treated with chlorpyrifos are below the level of concern for the entire U.S. population, including infants and children. Drinking water risk estimates based on screening models and monitoring data from both ground and surface water for acute and chronic exposures are generally not of concern.
In June, 2000, the Agency entered into an agreement with the technical registrants to eliminate virtually all homeowner uses, except ant and roach baits in child resistent packaging.
Residential postapplication exposures may occur after termiticide use in residential structures. To mitigate risks from this use, the technical registrants agreed in June 2000 to limit termiticide treatments to 0.5% solution, and cancel all postconstruction uses. Pre-construction use will remain until 2005, unless acceptable exposure data are submitted that show that residential postapplication risks from this use are not a concern.
Occupational exposure to chlorpyrifos is of concern to the Agency. Exposures of concern include mixing/loading liquids for aerial/chemigation and groundboom application, mixing wettable powder for groundboom application, aerial application, and application by backpack sprayer, high-pressure handwand, and hand-held sprayer or duster. Generally, these risks can be mitigated by a combination of additional personal protective equipment and engineering controls, and by reductions in application rates. Additionally, the Agricultural Handler Task Force will be developing exposure data to better characterize the risk from certain uses (e.g., applying granulars by air).
Risk quotients indicate that a single application of chlorpyrifos poses risks to small mammals, birds, fish and aquatic invertebrate species for nearly all registered outdoor uses. Multiple applications increase the risks to wildlife and prolong exposures to toxic concentrations. To address these risks, a number of measures including reduced application rates, increased retreatment intervals, reduced seasonal maximum amounts applied per acre, and no-spray setback zones around water bodies will be needed.
